Top Surgery

Needed: $500
I now need $1,000 in order to have top surgery. If I can get said money by early March, my spring break and 21st birthday will consist of sleeping in extremely uncomfortable upright positions whilst letting my chest heal as I treat myself to cookies, grapes, and juice. My planned deadline is March 11th. That gives me just under six weeks. It's possible. I know it is. It's just a matter of figuring out how to pull it off. I know I can save at least $500 on my own. It would be more but there's this thing called rent. Sigh. Still. I can do this.

At this point I don't mind asking for help. I've been called stupid for not asking, actually. I've struggled to save $5000 on my own in just over a year. Asking for help with a few hundred won't be the death of me. And, if possible, I'd really like to pay anyone who donates back once I get back on my feet. So, for those who may have an extra penny lying around and want to be nice to me--please donate! I'll sing and dance at your next birthday party!I'm also looking for odd jobs to do. I'm willing to attempt anything that:

  • isn't sexual in nature
  • doesn't require the removal of clothing and subsequent gyrating of body parts
  • isn't potentially life threatening
I've already started contacting people about writing essays or other articles, since it's something I'm good at. And I've looked ointo selling my blood/plasma, though I'm likely to be rejected for that due to a pre-existing medical condition.

So close, yet so far. Any ideas?
$1,000 Closer!
Just over 3 months after my first post and I'm $1,000 (and some change) closer to the halfway mark. At this rate, I should have at least $3,000 saved up by the time I move. Hopefully more.

If I can't get the full $6,000 by the time next summer rolls around, I plan to just take out a loan. Then I'll work days and nights to pay it off and get back to college.

Sacrifice is fun, no?
Mission: Top Surgery
I've been on testosterone for about three months now, and with an impending college transfer coming up--among other things--top surgery has been on my mind more and more.

Here's a general outline of my transition thus far:

September 16, 2010: Legally changed name
February 8, 2011: Approved to begin HRT by therapist
February 25, 2011: Approved to begin HRT by physician
March 22, 2011: Began T injections (.25ml, biweekly)
June 14, 2011: Increased T dose (.50ml, biweekly)

I'm hoping to be able to have surgery during the summer of 2012, right before I transfer colleges. It would improve my experience a great deal, considering that the first time around I was outed and dealt with quite a bit of unnecessary drama. I would just like to go to this new college as a free man, able to do as I please without worrying about this and that.

Being honest, I really don't like to ask for money because I feel as though I should be doing this on my own. But I have the sense to know that with my current lifestyle (that is, as a broke college student struggling to make ends meet) saving $6,000 will be rather difficult. Plus, people have asked to donate to my cause. So, here this is. I'm only asking for help with half of the estimated cost of surgery, which I suppose is better than asking for 100% of it. Whatever helps me sleep at night, right?

Whatever people can donate would be wonderfully appreciated. And if you can't help out, spread the word?

Thanks,
Shaan

P.S. - At this exact moment, I have saved $1,000 by myself. Only $5,000 to go!
